In 1892, Mountain View began holding services in a school building with 24 charter members. Almost immediately, they purchased the current land and built a wooden frame church at the same site where we meet more than a century later; the current brick structure replaced the original church in the early 1940s. A church parsonage was built in 1948 by members who donated labor and materials. In 1962, an educational building was added that included a pastor's study, Sunday school rooms, a kitchen/fellowship area, restrooms, and a choir loft. The most recent expansion, in 2004, added the beautiful fellowship hall, a fully equipped kitchen and stage area.

Mountain View has a history of community outreach that includes members who were called to full-time ministry: Rev. Donald Raton and Reverend John Pickens. More than 50 pastors have served our congregation since 1892. God has been so faithful throughout the years to Mountain View and because of His grace we are thankful to be a vital part of this rural community. Grateful for God’s leading and for the laity and Pastors who have dedicated themselves in obedience to follow Christ with willing and loving hearts. 

While Mountain View cherished their Wesleyan roots in the United Methodist Church of South Carolina, the members prayerfully considered, and were of one mind to withdraw from that historic connection. Mountain View chose to align with the newly formed Global Methodist Church, beginning a new chapter in our history in 2023.
